St. Michael's School – Best School in Ranchi

It all began with a dream — a dream to build a brighter future for children. Our journey started in Bajra, a remote village on the outskirts of Ranchi. We believed that true service begins with education, and what better way to serve than empowering young minds in underserved areas?

In 1997, together with my wife Vandana and our close friend Dr. Shivramakrishnan, we laid the foundation of St. Michael’s Kids School. We began with just 13 children, 3 teachers, and 2 ward boys. Our very first annual sports day had only 13 parents in attendance — a humble but heartfelt beginning.

From the outset, we emphasized holistic growth — celebrating every festival, arranging picnics, and conducting art, craft, academic, and extracurricular activities with dedication. With each passing year, our numbers grew: 44, then 84, and eventually 127.

Encouraged by the parents’ trust and our students' growth, we expanded further. In 2008, St. Michael’s School in Jajpur was established. Today, we proudly educate over 2,100 students with a dedicated team of 94 staff members.

The road wasn't easy. Convincing families of the value of quality education was our first challenge. We went door to door, sharing our vision and building trust. Financial constraints were real, yet we never compromised on care — arranging transport for distant children, and even assigning one teacher per child in early classes.

What kept us going was the unwavering support from parents and the incredible commitment of our first educators: Ms. Monica Das, Ms. Sushila Kerketta, Mr. Shyamal Rao, and our ward boy Sukra. Their belief in our mission made this journey not just possible, but joyful.
