At St. Michael’s School, we don’t just teach students about the environment — we empower them to protect it. Our recent initiative, the Green School Drive, proved just that. With the theme “Little Hands, Big Impact,” the campaign saw enthusiastic participation from students of all grades, especially the younger ones who truly led the movement with heart and hope.
As part of the drive, over 300 saplings were planted across both campuses — Argora-Kathal More Road and Pundag. Students were guided by teachers and local experts in understanding how to plant and care for trees. Each class adopted specific areas around the school and took responsibility for maintaining the greenery, watering plants, and keeping the surroundings clean.
The campaign also included eco-awareness sessions, where students learned about topics like climate change, waste management, water conservation, and sustainable living. These interactive sessions were conducted through storytelling, skits, poster-making, and model presentations, helping children understand environmental issues in a fun and meaningful way.
We also organized a “No Plastic Week,” where students pledged to avoid single-use plastic and encouraged their families to do the same. Eco-clubs conducted daily inspections and rewarded eco-friendly behavior with badges and certificates.
The Green School Drive was more than a one-time activity — it was the beginning of a larger commitment to sustainability. Through this initiative, students developed a sense of ownership, responsibility, and pride in their environment. It was heartwarming to see young children enthusiastically checking on their plants and educating their peers about environmental care.
At St. Michael’s School, we believe that the future belongs to those who care for it — and our students have already begun their journey as young environmental champions.
